Every day we drink lots of coffee at Tensing. Cappuccino, latte, espresso or just plain black coffee, pick your poison. A good coffee machine is crucial in Tensing’s building and it is well appreciated by every one. But watch out if the machine is not working.

Because we know as no one else what the potential impact is when our caffeine supply stops we could easily relate to the requirements Douwe Egberts (Sara Lee) had when they decided to automate their coffee maintenance service.

The engineers who are on the road for Douwe Egberts must be able to do rapidly and efficiently what they are good at: maintenance and repair. Tensing was asked to do what we are good at: the realization of mobile data communication between the back office, planning and the field worker.

The project was a success. Over 30 field service engineers work on a daily basis with Tensing software on a PDA with which they exchange ongoing data with their back office; the engineers can receive and send work orders on their PDA automatically and the planners have an overview of the field operations. And last but not least, the chance that you will be forced to drink fruit juice for a day, almost nil.
